This existing client wanted to beautify her backyard. She wanted to create an outdoor living space with sustainability in mind. The goal was to create a relaxing, beautiful, and quiet environment, while incorporating the use of rainwater for irrigation. Perennial plantings, aspen trees, and flowering shrubs were utilized to enhance the backyard. A trellis with climbing vines was installed to create privacy and serenity.

530 gallon rainwater harvest tank is utilized to capture rainwater directly off the roof via a downspout. Amazingly, 1 inch of rain on 1000 square feet of roof area can collect 600 gallons of rainwater. INSERT USAGE This rainwater tank regularly reaches capacity during monsoon season and winter storms. Water from the rainwater tank directly feeds to the backyard plantings through a conventional drip irrigation system. This system creates a sustainable way to maintain a beautiful garden, while capturing a free precious resource.

Perennial flowers, including Shasta Daisies and Purple Coneflowers, flowering shrubs, including Bluemist Spirea and Red Twig Dogwoods were utilized to provide a variety of color throughout the growing season. Quaking Aspens were strategically placed to provide height in the landscape and privacy.

The landscaped area was mounded to provide dimension and elevation to the landscape. Locally harvested Malpais boulders were placed to help create a more natural appearance. Perennial flowers, shrubs, and Aspen trees were planted to beautify the area. Rainwater harvesting was installed to irrigate the plantings.
